Edward Nelson, founder of Nelson Controls, is the son of a US Navy steam ship chief engineer who served in WW2. After serving his own time in the military like his father, Ed entered into valve sales, following his honorable discharge from the US Air Force. He enjoyed the industry as it related to his father's life work aboard ships in their engine rooms.
Ed's passion for the industry was made clear and gained him respect from engineering firms, property managers, and mechanical contractors. He was called upon to design, fabricate, and install a 60 inch diameter pipe elbow assembly on his own to serve as the river water intake for the World Trade Center in NYC, using a condenser water design as opposed to a cooling towers design.
Staying within the HVAC valve sales community, Ed was invited to work for an innovative manufacturing company and helped improve sales in low voltage actuated ball, globe, and butterfly valves, as well as controls, damper actuators, and rolling out a new humidifier line. He worked closely with consulting engineers to ensure being spec'd in and worked with the new distribution network he established.
Seeking to better himself, Ed departed the manufacturer with his knowledge set in 2003, and created Nelson Controls LLC.
